"Korea has kept ranking first in investment on Vietnam for the last 2 years. Korean enterprises including Samsung, LG, and POSCO are enthusiastically investing on Vietnam. They are going to continue to gain great opportunities in Vietnam.”
At an interview with Aju News, Pham Tien Van, Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea, emphasized, “Since Korea and Vietnam are brother countries, we should try to promote economic cooperation between the two countries.”
Ambassador Pham said, “Vietnam is seeking to develop Korea’s economy. With joining in World Trade Organization (WTO), we are meeting the standard of international trade.”
The economy of Vietnam has continue to grow by 7~8% every year. Despite the global financial crisis, it is expected that the national income per head will increase from the current 1000 dollars to 1200 dollars.
However, Ambassador Pham explained, “Due to the financial crisis, even Vietnam could not escape it and is hard hit in its export, which is Vietnam’s growth power.”
Vietnam’s export has been grown by 20% every year and 30% in 2007, but came to an end its growth of10% in 2008.
Ambassador Pham proposed, “Although there are public criticisms about ratification of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Korea and US, Vietnam also plan to make a contract FTA with main countries. Most of the countries are now ratifying FTA all around the world.”
